Volunteer Opportunity for Late Spring / Early Summer 2015
Position: Volunteer research assistant Duration: Early April to late July OR late April to late June (negotiable) Location: Salmon Coast Field Station in the Broughton Archipelago, British Columbia Pay: Volunteer. Accommodation, food, and travel to/from Victoria or Vancouver will be covered. Description: For this project, research teams will collect wild juvenile salmon and monitor bio-oceanographic conditions in Johnstone Strait, BC. For much of the season, crews will be based out of Salmon Coast Field Station but for four weeks the crews will alternate between staying there and staying on a 40’ converted fishing vessel based out of Johnstone Strait. Applicants must be prepared for early mornings, harsh conditions, and very physical work. Enthusiasm for science, positive attitude, and love of the outdoors essential! Must be able to work well in a team and enjoy living in small remote facilities. See salmoncoast.org for more information on the field location and research station.
